Alfresco enclosure cost estimator for Adelaide
Enclosing a patio or alfresco is a whole-project decision, not a single blind. This estimator prices the full job: every open side, the style you want, and how much of it you plan to motorise. It returns an indicative project range and a per-side figure, built from the same Adelaide price bands used across this site.
Nothing here is a quote. We estimate, and the vetted Adelaide installer we connect you with confirms the figure with an on-site measure.
Your alfresco
Count each open side you want closed in. The estimate updates as you go.

Indicative project estimate
$6,100 to $8,500
Around $2,250 per side across 3 sides, supplied and installed.
This is an indicative estimate only, not a quote. Your figure is confirmed by the vetted installer's on-site measure.
What a site measure may change
- Posts and beams: an open span with nothing to fix a track to needs a new post or a structural head.
- Uneven floors: pavers, a stepped deck or a fall for drainage means each blind is cut to its own drop.
- Wide spans: anything past about 5 m usually needs a centre track or a split into 2 blinds.
- Coastal sites and exposed hills blocks are specified with heavier hardware, which lifts the figure.

What drives an enclosure price
4 decisions account for almost the entire spread between a $4,000 enclosure and a $12,000 one.
How many sides. Most Adelaide alfrescos are enclosed on 2 or 3 sides, leaving the house wall as the fourth. Each additional side is close to a linear cost increase, so this is the biggest single number in the project.
The style. Mesh shade is the cheapest per side and cuts glare and light wind. Clear PVC on straps keeps the view and blocks most weather. Clear PVC in a track seals the edges and is the only option that makes the space genuinely usable in a cold, wet Adelaide July.
Motorisation. Motorising every side is the fastest way to double a budget. Motorising the 1 or 2 sides you open most, and leaving the rest manual, keeps the daily convenience at a fraction of the cost.
Span. Sides over 5 m usually need a centre track or a split into 2 blinds, plus heavier hardware. That is why the widest band carries the largest multiplier.
How to keep an enclosure inside budget
If the range comes back higher than you expected, these are the levers installers actually use, in order of impact.
Mix the styles
Track-guided clear PVC on the weather side, mesh or strapped PVC on the sheltered sides. You pay for the seal only where the wind actually comes from.
Motorise selectively
Motorise the side you open daily and leave the rest manual. Most installers can wire the others for a motor later without rebuilding the head.
Do it in 1 visit
One measure and one install day across the whole enclosure beats staging it over years, and avoids a fabric batch mismatch between sides.
FAQ
Alfresco enclosure pricing: your questions
A full alfresco enclosure across 3 to 4 sides runs indicatively $3,500 to $9,000 supplied and installed. Mesh shade sides sit at the bottom of that band, clear PVC in the middle, and motorised track-guided clear PVC at the top. Wide spans, motorisation and awkward fixing conditions are what move a project up the range. The vetted installer confirms your figure with an on-site measure.
All at once, clearly. One measure, one setup, one delivery and one install day spread across every side is cheaper per side than repeating that 3 times over 3 years. Doing it in stages also risks a colour or fabric batch mismatch between the first side and the last, which is very visible on a clear PVC enclosure.
Because an alfresco almost never has 4 identical clean openings. Real projects have a post in the wrong place, a stepped paver line, a return wall at an angle or a span that needs a centre track. The estimator adds 8% to reflect that, which keeps the range honest rather than showing you a best-case number no installer can hold to.
